Dr. Samuel Auchi Ngonela is a Gerda Henkel-Stiftung Foundation scholar specializing in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. He holds a Ph.D. in Historical and Humanistic Social
Sciences from Makerere University. His doctoral research focused on Peacebuilding in Kenya: A Historical Analysis of Voices from Below, 1950-2019, The Study provides a nuanced look at how the subalterns have shaped peacebuilding efforts in Kenya. Dr. Auchi also earned a Master of Arts in Sociology, from Egerton University in Kenya specializing in Peace Studies and
Conflict Management. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Political Science- International Relations Option) from Makerere University and is a Final year Bachelor
of Laws Student at Mount Kenya University Law Campus-Parklands. His career is marked by hands-on experience, having led over 20 projects related to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and humanitarian work. Dr. Auchi has demonstrated his expertise in planning, budgeting, and executing complex initiatives. Noteworthy among his achievements are the development of significant research proposals on power-sharing and sustainable peace, with support from IDRC and USAID. In his consultancy role, Dr. Auchi has made valuable contributions, including a research project on Intersex Management: A Medical Perspective for the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, and a survey on views of Young people on civic and political participation in Kenya-Inuka Ni Sisi (2024).
Currently, Dr. Auchi is engaged in research on the role of international human rights courts in indigenous rights protection: a case study of the Ogiek in Kenya with emphasis on indigenous
environmentalism and sustainable development, as well as a Book on The Place of Children in Peacebuilding and Post Conflict Reconstruction in Kenya.
Dr. Auchi is also an associate to member of the Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM) and has a strong interest on Labour Laws, Industrial Relations and HR for Humanitarian fields. He also has expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation. Dr. Auchi continues to make significant contributions to peacebuilding, providing insightful analysis on conflict resolution and humanitarian issues in the Great Lakes Region.
